There are many interesting attractions in the Santa Cruz Highlands.
This can include a visit to a hacienda or ranch with lunch prepared and served there or at nearby highland restaurants.
It is a relaxing time in the fresh, cooler air, and some of the haciendas have a pool and they will lend you swimsuits, towels and formed when the roofs of empty magma chambers collapsed.
They are surrounded by lush green vegetation and are close to the road with very easy access via a dirt path.
You might catch sight of the startlingly bright red vermilion flycatcher, a Galapagos hawk or Darwin’s finches.
Individuals not on a tour can get here by taking the main cross island road about 12km (7-1/2mi) west of Bellavista to Santa Rosa village, then continuing another 2km (1mi) to the sinkholes.
The next stop on the tour is a short distance away for a brief hike on an easy, circular path through the dense foliage of the scalesia forest and a glorious view over Santa Cruz.
