The Galapagos Islands offer a climate with water temperatures ranging from 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit from December to May, and 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit from June to November. Water temperatures tend to be higher around Darwin and Wolf Islands. Air temperatures range from 75 degrees Fahrenheit or higher during the rainy season (December to May) to the mid-’60s (Fahrenheit) in the dry season (June to November), accompanied by refreshing sea breezes.
Currents at our dive sites can vary between 1 and 5 knots, and visibility generally ranges from 30 to 80 feet. To ensure your comfort, we recommend wearing a 7mm wetsuit with a hooded vest and gloves from June to November, and a minimum of a 5mm wetsuit from December to May. Gloves and hoods are strongly recommended for all divers.
During your Galapagos liveaboard dives, you’ll effortlessly enter the water with a backward roll from the pangas. After your dive, your tank will be lifted back onto the panga, and you can easily board via stern ladders or with assistance from the side.
