Lovely Antique Yellow and Black Grain-Painted Horsehair Brush farm tool and the bottom half ofI've gathered and sold a fair number of antique horsehair brushes at this point, but this is the first one I've found with a painted wood handle, in a style which I believe would be referred to as grain painting, executed in yellow and black. I believe it likely dates to the mid 19th century or so, and features a full head of pale bristles peppered with a few black ones, which I think perfectly complements the handle. Really lovely.
